Ghana Immigration Service’s bid to give league leaders Tesano Spinners a hot chase, suffered a setback when they lost 2-3 to Ghana National Fire Service in a crunch match two duel as the Stanbic Table Tennis League entered its 14th week at the DG Hathrimani Sports Hall last Saturday.
Ghana Immigration did everything to maintain the chase on Tesano Spinners, but Fire Service appeared too strong for them on the day. This means six points differentiates the two teams at the league summit.
Meanwhile, Tesano Spinners strengthened their stranglehold at the top by winning all three games on the day, beating Synergy TT Club 3-0 in match one and recording subsequent 3-0 victories against Team Coach Addo and Madina Stars respectively.
Ghana Fire Service impressive performance on the day has seen them leapfrog Ghana Police to take charge of the third position. They trounced Eastern Loopers 3-0; shocked Ghana Immigration with a hard-fought 3-2 victory and pipped Western Table Tennis 3-2.
Other match one games saw Ghana Immigration silencing Ghana Navy 3-1; Ashanti Otumfuor Stars triumphing Western Table Tennis Club 3-0, Team Baboo losing 2-3 to Ghana Revenue Authority, Madina Stars suffering 1-3 defeating at the Hands of Ghana Police Service and Team Coach Addo narrowly winning 3-2 against Ashaiman T.T Club.
Match two games witnessed Ghana Navy demolished 0-3 by kings Royal Academy; Western Table Tennis Club walking over Eastern Loopers 3-1, Ghana Police Service whipping Team Baboo 3-0, Ghana Army muscling out Synergy TT Club 3-0 and Madina Club whitewashing Ashaiman TT Club 3-0.
In the final matches of the day, Ghana Immigration beat kings Royal Academy 3-0; Ghana Navy losing 0-3 to Ghana Revenue Authority, Ashanti Otumfuor Stars making mincemeat of Synergy TT Club 3-0, Team Baboo Silencing Ashaiman TT Club 3-0 and Ghana Army flogging Team Coach Addo 3-1.
In the women’s division, Spinners showed readiness to maintain their impressive record by thrashing Ghana Police Service 3-1.
Other matches saw Western Club losing out 0-3 to Ghana Immigration; Ghana Army edging Ghana Navy 3-2 and Team Coach Addo trouncing Ghana Army 3-1.
