Teshie Beach Soccer United will host the maiden edition of the Homowo Beach Soccer Cup 2017 at the Laboma Beach, La, on Saturday September 30.
With the aim of developing beach soccer and spreading it across the costal lines, the one-day tournament which is to climax the Homowo festivities will bring together four towns namely Osu, La, Teshie and Nungua to vie for honours.
Explaining modalities for the tournament, the coordinator Theophilus Armah noted that all four towns will each present 12 players and three officials.
He stated that each game will last for 36 minutes with the two winners in the preliminary stages moving into the finals to contest for the giant trophy and medals at stake.
The Black Sharks assistant coach revealed that there will be a special side attraction game involving a select media side and the beach soccer officials before the finals take place.
Coach Armah further revealed that plans were far advanced to make it an annual event and extend it to the other towns in the region.
Expected to grace the occasion will be the Deputy Director-General in charge of technical at the National Sports Authority, Mr. Saka Acquaye, Dr Bright Okoh of Greenfield Scientific Herbal Clinic, Mr Emmanuel Kotey, assemblyman for Osu–Doku Electoral Area , Mr Adolph Tetteh, MD Sapholda, executives of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA), Sports heads from LEKMA, LADMA, AMA as well as traditional representatives from all four participating towns.
