Baby Jets Promotions Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Samuel Anim Addo has indicated the team has its sights fixed on IBO champion, Emmanuel ‘Game boy’ Tagoe’s unifying the lightweight division.
“That is our main agenda for 2018. We want to unify the lightweight division. Our focus now is to defend the IBO title and go ahead to annex the WBO or WBA titles before the end of the year,” Anim Addo disclosed this at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday to announce the undercards for the Tagoe-Fernando Saucedo clash billed for the Bukom Boxing Arena on January 27.
Tagoe 31, who defeated South African Mzonke Fana via unanimous decision to be crowned the IBO lightweight champion in 2016, will have to face Argentine Fernando Saucedo 36, in a mandatory defense of the title he won.
Anim Addo was optimistic the big fight dubbed “Defend to Glory” will see Tagoe come up tops.
“Since he recovered from his injuries he has been training hard and he’s ready even if the fight is today, “he said brimming with confidence.
The undercards include a 10-round WBO Africa welterweight contest between Dodzi Kemeh (Ghana) and Mwinyi Mzengera (Tanzania), Daniel Lartey against Daniel Duku in a 12–round national super welterweight championship bout, Albert Mensah facing-off with Charles Tetteh in an 8-rounder welterweight contest with Michael Pappoe and Enoch Lamptey battling it out in an 8- round lightweight contest.
Theophilus Tetteh is billed to fight in a six-round super bantamweight contest with an opponent yet to be announced.
Mr. Anim Addo announced a massive entertainment package for the fans who will be treated to some good music by Lynx Entertainment’s sensational trio MzVee, Kidi and Kuame Eugene as well as ‘Bronya hitmakers’ Wutah and dancehall whiz kid, Episode among others.
The occasion was also used to unveil Joy Industries, Paradise Pac Mineral Water, Run Energy drink and Supersport as the official sponsors for the event.
He revealed his outfit together with Box Office Promotions is spending to the tune of $200,000 to cater for Air tickets for Saucedo and his team as well IBO officials, Saucedo’s Purse and accommodation.
Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) Second Vice-President Abraham Neequaye attested to the prowess of Tagoe and called on all to support him to defend his world title, adding that, the GBA was committed to ensuring that it meets its target of amassing at least four world titles by the end of 2018.
