The Suame Divisional Police have begun investigations into a robbery at the Suame Medium Taxpayer Office (MTO) Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), in Kumasi, over the weekend, during which the burglars made away with unspecified amount.
Cautioned statements of some of the workers including the securities and janitors have been taken by the police, but officials of the GRA were tight lipped over the amount of money stolen during the robbery.
A police source told the Ghanaian Times that the investigation followed a report made by the GRA authorities on Monday.
According to the source, it was not clear exactly when the incident happened, but the suspects were said to have possibly bolted away with some unspecified amount of money.
The source indicated that a cleaner from the office alerted GRA management about the incident when she went there to do her usual cleaning and realized that the office had been broken into.
But, when the Ghanaian Times contacted Head of the Suame MTO Division, Mrs. Akosua Adu Boateng, she said she did not have information about when the incident happened, but indicated that the police were investigating the case.
The Ghanaian Times observed at the crime scene that, the suspects tampered with one of the glass windows at the back of the one-storey building of the office.
