Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, a heavy-duty vehicle trading company, has opened a new service centre at Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West District to provide sale and after-sale services to customers in the Western Region.
The opening of the centre is the company’s latest move to expand operations in Ghana following its partnership with Sinotruk, China’s first heavy-duty truck manufacturer, to establish an assembly plant in the country.
Mrs Yang Yang, Chief Executive Officer of Zonda Tec, said the centre was to bring door-to-door services to the company’s growing clients within the region, particularly Takoradi and Tarkwa and offer speed services as an enabler to their businesses.
Since its introduction in the country in 2010, she said Zonda Tec has built strong working relationships with its customers resulting in an increase in demand of services adding that the new centre would also support the company’s effort to explore business opportunities in the region.
For residents within the area, Mrs Yang stated that the service centre would provide employment opportunities for mechanics, drivers, amongst others for the teeming youths as well as provide opportunities for training and technology transfer for the Ghanaians who would work with the Chinese expatriate on site.
She said the company currently has wide range of products including tipper trucks, excavators, light trucks, oil tankers among others that would meet the needs of businesses and industries within the Western region.
The company’s expansion to provide easy access to services, according to her, was to change the wrong perception that products from China were of inferior quality
In addition to the Western Region Service centre, she said two more new centres would be opened within the coming weeks at Kumasi and Nsawam in the Eastern Region to provide needed services to clients in the area and surrounding communities.
Mrs Yang added that early next year, work on the establishment of the Sinotruk assembly plant would begin saying that it operational success would encourage other Chinese businesses to invest in the country and support the industrialisation agenda of government.
Nana Eziaku IV, Divisional Chief of Agona, expressed gratitude to the company for establishing the Centre in the area, a decision, he said would support the growth of the local economy.
He reiterated the commitment of the traditional authorities to work closely with the company to create employment and training opportunities for the indigenes.
He urged other businesses to extend operations to the area and pledged the support of the chiefs in realising the company’s objectives.
