The Takoradi police are conducting investigations into the murder of Miss Vera Edafe Ovoke, a 28-year-old Nigerian customer, at the Ridgeway Hotel, in the Chapel Hill suburb of the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region, on Saturday morning.
The unknown assailant, according to the police, fled the scene after stabbing the woman with a knife.
The body of Miss Ovoke has been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination.
Briefing the Ghanaian Times, the Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, said at about 6a.m, on Saturday, a bar attendant at the Ridgeway Hotel, at Chapel Hill in Takoradi, reported the alleged murder to the central police station.
She narrated that Miss Ovoke who lodged at the said hotel, was attacked and stabbed with a knife to death, by a young man at the hotel and bolted, saying that the attendant claimed she did not know the alleged assailant, but, she could identify him.
DSP Adiku said the police went to the scene and found the naked body of Miss Ovoke at the washroom of Room number 14 at the Ridgeway Hotel.
She said knife wounds were inflicted on the throat, the stomach and the left thigh, of the woman with blood oozing from the cuts.
