Ten more contestants have been recruited for the finals of the ongoing ‘Maltavator Challenge’ after an electrifying competition at the Police Reserve Park in Takoradi over the weekend.
This brings to 20, the number of challengers recruited to compete at the second season of the event in, January 2019.
Out of 150 aspirants that registered to participate, 40 scaled through the elimination stage of the competition, out of which the 10 finalists were selected after going through obstacle courses.
Contestants had to weave run through cones, take high knee runs through tires, and make low crawls, jump hurdles, balance run on a log, flip tires among others to make their marks.
The next stop for the competition will be at the Opoku Ware Senior High School (OWASS) in Kumasi on November 17, where 10 more hopefuls would be recruited.
This will be followed by a final stop at the Kaladan Park in Tamale on the November 24.
The accumulated 40 contestants will compete for a slot among top six finalists from Ghana who will battle other competitors from Nigeria, Cameroun, Kenya, Ethiopia and Cote d’Ivoire for the ultimate prize of $20,000, in South Africa Next year.
Brands Manager for Malta Guinness, Roland Ofori, was thrilled at the level of determination and commitment from the Takoradi contestants.
“The Maltavator Challenge has been set up to test the resilience, agility and energy of the Ghanaian youth and with the level of determination and commitment shown, they can win the ultimate,” he stated.
