Amos Korblah – ready for action
The fifth edition of the Gold Fields Professional Golfers Association (PGA) golf tournament is set to tee off today at the Damang Golf course in the Western Region.
About 70 golfers across the continent would begin the four-day competition which marks the 25th Anniversary of Gold Fields in Ghana.
Dignitaries including the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu, Chief Executive Officer of Gold Fields, Nicholas Holland, Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu and Alfred Baku, Gold Fields Executive Vice President and Head of West Africa would perform the official tee off.
Organisers have announced a whopping GH¢135,000 as cash prize for the professional event which is expected to be keenly contested.
President of the PGA, Kwame Mintah, says the winner would walk away with GH¢35,000, with other cash prizes for the amateur and senior players.
Past winners including Vincent Torgah, Amos Korblah and Kojo Bannie would battle it out for the top prize.
