The donated Nissan pickup trucks
A former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Alfred Obeng Boateng, on Monday donated three brand new Nissan pickup trucks to Sefwi police in the Western Region, to improve security in the area.
The donation, which was done with supports from members of Friends of Approachers at the cost of GH¢ 525,000, would serve the Sefwi Wiawso, Sefwi Bekwai and Sefwi Bibiani police commands.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Mr Boateng recalled that, about months ago, the police commanders requested for vehicles to enhance service delivery in their communities.
Mr Boateng, who is also the founder of Friends of Approachers, said one way to show appreciation to God was to give back to society, adding “this is a reflection of what we are witnessing today.”
He said the gesture was a huge investment and, therefore, urged the police to take good care of the vehicles.
Mr Boateng thanked the people for the successful referendum on December 27, to create a new region for the area which would save them from travelling over hours to transact official businesses at the regional head office at Sekondi.
He said investors had acquired the old underground mining at Ahyiresu and Abofrem, explaining that operations would commence in April 2019, expressing optimism it would create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
Representative of both Sefwi Wiawso and Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Councils thanked Mr Boateng for his kind gestures which had been extended to the health sector with the provision of a generator set to the Bibiani Government Hospital at the cost of GH? 170,000.00 in October, and also donating a brand new Nissan pick up at the cost of $ 35 000.00(GH? 171,500) to the Western North Secretariat.
Applauding Mr Boateng for his developmental efforts, the Mawerehene of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council, Nana Kofi Affi II, suggested to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that the Western North Region would be attractive and progressive with people like the donor, a potential candidate for the regional minister position.
The Divisional Commander for Sefwi Wiawso, Chief Superintendent of Police Francis K. Enor, thanked Mr Boateng for the gesture and said security was shared responsibility.
