The Executive and the members of the Accra New Town JHS 1993 Year Group has donated a set of portable computers and other assorted items to their alma mater.
The donation, made on April 11, 2018, was to show gratitude and appreciation to the school that once nurtured them.
The ecstatic students of the school greeted the 1993 year group with series of cultural displays and dance choreography.
Headmaster of ANT 1 JHS, Daniel Kwame Doe, thanked the old students for responding to the distress call of the school.
He was grateful for the fraternal gesture and said the computers were going to facilitate quality of teaching and learning.
He was also of the view that the computers were going to augment the number of computers there were already at the school.
Financial Secretary of the 1993 year group, Mr. Jerry Afful, who also doubles as the Project Committee Head handed over the set of computers and the other items to the Headmaster.
The items included ten sets of computers, an overhead projector, sets of blenders, sets of electric kettles and a portable high-speed Huawei internet Wifi router.
The cost of the items was valued at over GHS8,000.
The group also presented an undisclosed amount of cash to the longest-serving tutor of the school called Mr. Owusu Ansah, popularly called O Ansah.
Mr. Amu Dodoo Charles, the Circuit Supervisor of Circuit 17, Accra New Town Educational Unit, who witnessed the presentation, was full of praise for the group and further stressed that central government alone cannot do it all and requires the support of a Public Private Partnership and hence the donation was timely.
Mr. Frempong Christian, President of the ANT JHS 1993 Year Group, in an interview with myjoyonline.com said the donation was necessitated by a response to a distress call from the school authorities to help address the infrastructure deficit of the school.
The money for the items was realized through voluntary generous contributions from the members of the group.
He said the group will take up other projects of the school in the not too distant future.
