Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper has dared embattled former president of the Ghana Football Association and his wife, to reveal who attempted to extort money from them to stop airing of the famous Number 12 documentary.
Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, who has consistently refuted the claims of payment meant to stop the airing of the investigative work by Anas Aremeyaw Anas said, the former president and his wife will be doing themselves a lot of good if they declared the persons involved.
“Who did you pay the money to and who returned the money. Those are critical missing links. At no point in time did Tiger Eye PI or Anas or both get involved in getting money from anybody in order to kill the project,” he stressed on Newfile.
Mr Baako’s comment comes days after Kwesi Nyantakyi’s wife on an interview on Accra-based metro TV claimed that her husband paid $100,000 to prevent the screening of the documentary that has resulted in him being handed a lifetime ban by FIFA.
“They proposed $150,000, [but] my husband couldn’t afford it, so he gave out $100,000 and they came back to him and said 'the person says you need to add $50,000', and he said 'well, I don’t have it; that’s all that I have,'” Christine-Marie Nyantakyi said.
The Number 12 film revealed how Nyantakyi had misconducted himself and engaged himself in acts of “bribery and corruption,” for which the world football governing body, FIFA has banned him for life.
He also faces a possible prosecution in Ghana.
But Mr Baako who has previously hinted that Tiger Eye PI has once been contacted by a lawyer who attempted to pay a bribe said the onus lies on Mrs Nyantakyi and her husband to reveal the persons involved.
“It is incumbent on them particularly when they have decided to go public, to drop the name. But they are not doing it and they have put it out there. It is an innuendo to target Anas and Tiger Eye. That is unfair,” he said.

He added that in any case, “Kwesi had an opportunity with the police in the course of the investigations; did he tell them at any point that he was a victim of blackmail? And you are still sitting on radio and TV circulating innuendos.”
According to him, the best thing for the embattled former president to do is to speak up and “nail the guys. The guys have brought you down and you are prepared to protect them? I don’t get it, it is illogical.”
He stressed that at no point in time did Anas get anybody to negotiate any deal with Mr Nyantakyi in order to kill the screening of the video.
“You cannot put a monetary value on the outcome of the work. There is no monetary value on it. A journalist of Anas nature is out there because his work has attracted such international recognition.
“It is priceless, forever and ever not money,” he added.
