Koforidua-based Pope John Senior High and Minor Seminary are set for a confidence boost as the gear up for the 2019 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz.
The 2001 champions suffered a shock defeat to city mates, Koforidua Senior High and Technical School (KSTS) at the 1/8 stage of the contest in 2018.
Pope John should have no problem working on the eight-point gap they lost since they are known to be one of Ghana’s 8As hub unlike those they would have to face at the regional qualifiers.
They face Salvation Army SHS, Presby SHS Mampong, Klo-Agogo SHS and St. Fidelis SHTS.
With only underdogs to deal with, Pope John should score enough points to provide them with enough confidence for the finale at University of Ghana; otherwise, they can prepare for all the social media trolls.
Up north, Notre Dame Senior High are tipped to make a return to the nationals as they have been drawn against Sandema SHS, Sirigu SHS, Bawku SHTS and Zamse SHTS.
The Upper East region top dogs are one of those who tasted Day 1 elimination in the 2018 championship.
They now have the chance for a comeback to prove to the whole nation that not only should they be feared in the Upper East region but they can also make a mark in TV’s biggest science and Maths competition at the national level.
