Regional qualifiers for the 2019 edition of the National Science and Maths (NSMQ) has reached ‘Brong Ahafo’, now Bono, Ahafo and Bono East regions.
Thirteen slots are available for grabs but after Saturday’s contests, five of those are already gone.
Atebubu Senior High set the ball rolling and picked the first slot with 34 points. They beat Samuel Otu Presby SHS who scored 19. Nkrankwanta SHTS and Yeji SHTS followed with 18 points apiece.

Our lady of Mt. Carmel Girls' SHS won the second contest with 31 points. They dominated their contest so much that the sum of their competitors’ scores was still one point short of their tally.

Badu SHTS scored 16 points and SDA SHS finished with 14 points.
In the third contest, Kintampo SHS escaped with 28 points; just five points higher than Kukuom Agric SHS who scored 23 points.

Kwame Danso SHTS finished the four-round contest with 17 points and Krobo SHS: lagged behind, amassing only 11 points.
The penultimate contest for the day saw Techiman SHS winning with 27 points. St. James Seminary and SHS followed them 19 points.

Ola Girls' SHS, Kenyasi failed to increase the number of girls’ schools at the national level, finishing with just 18 points; they however, did better than Boakye Tromo SHTS who scored just five points.
In the last contest, the Sunyani SHS raised the flag of the now, Bono regional capital, towering over their competitors with 40 points, 20 points higher than Wenchi Methodist SHS who placed second.

Sacred Heart SHS’ nine points and Goka SHS’ three points were just not enough to add threaten the victors.
