British police are reportedly searching for three suspects who may be armed, following an incident on the London Bridge Saturday evening where witnesses reported that a vehicle mounted the pavement and mowed down pedestrians.
Police are also responding to an incident at Borough Market, and that they had armed officers on both scenes.
Sky News reported that a white van drove off the road on London bridge and hit five or six people. London Transport Police said that the London Bridge station is closed off.
Police have so far been scant with details, saying they will release information when they can.
British Prime Minister Theresa May is in contact with officials and is being updated on the London Bridge incident, the Associated Press reported. US President Donald Trump has also been briefed on the incident, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer tweeted.
Fox News cited witnesses who said that people had been stabbed, and some said they heard shots fired.
The casualty count is not yet confirmed. Some passersby told The Spectator's Will Heaven they saw 15-20 people struck, while others said they saw 7-8. Heaven also said he heard reports of stabbings.
Sky News also reported multiple shots fired and stabbings in the Borough Market area, in addition to the London Bridge incident.
BBC News reported that at least five people had been injured on London Bridge.
The suspects are still at large and were reportedly moving on foot to the Borough Market area after fleeing London Bridge.
Borough Market is a popular gourmet food market in the South London neighborhood at one end of London Bridge. It is near the Shard, one of London's tallest skyscrapers and one if its most popular tourist destinations.
Sky News also reported a crashed van outside Brindisa, a trendy tourist spot that sits at a prime location outside Borough Market.
Authorities said they were aware of the reports but would not release more information until they could confirm the facts.
