The Metropolitan Chief Executive for Cape Coast has refuted claims by a section of the assembly members and market women that he is engaging in an illegality by skewing the distribution of stalls at the New Kotokuraba market to favour NPP party members.
He explains that the new Kotokoraba market complex has only 915 stalls making it difficult for the assembly to meet the expectation of the 1,567 applicants who wanted to sell at the market.
He adds that the assembly adopted the best practice in allocating the stalls as all the old occupants were first allocated with stalls.
Ultimate News’ Kwaku Baah Acheamfuor reported that teh MCE therefore rejected the claim of the aggrieved assemblymen and market women that some names have been expunged from the list.
Addressing the media in Cape on his return from the United States of America where he sought investment packages for the metropolis, Hon. Ernest Arthur indicated that known NDC functionaries have been allocated stalls at the new market based on the criteria set for the allocation and therefore the assembly cannot be accused of engaging in partisanship and cronyism in the allocation of stalls.
