The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested 46 suspected criminals in a swoop conducted at various criminal dens in the Kumasi Metropolis.
The swoops were conducted simultaneously at some places within the metropolis such as Asafo BB, Oforikrom, Bantama, Kwadaso Borla, Suame, Krofrom, Railways, and Adum.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander COP Ken Yeboah briefing the media in Kumasi said 46 suspected persons within the age range of 20 to 35 were rounded up in the swoops and unregistered Motorbikes were also impounded.
According to COP Ken Yeboah, substances suspected to be Indian hemp were retrieved from some of the suspects.
“All the suspects have been placed in custody assisting with investigations. As part of investigations, they will also be paraded to afford victims of robberies and other violent crimes the opportunity to identify their assailants” he said.
COP Ken Yeboah assured the public that the police will continue to resolve to fight all manner of crimes to its barest minimum and to assuage the fear of the public.
“The Command will like to also urge the citizenry to assist police by giving credible, reliable, accurate and timely information that will lead to the arrest of suspected criminals. Contemporary policing as we know is a shared responsibility between the police and the public. Therefore the appeal to the general public to collaborate with the police in the fight against these menaces which is a matter of concern to all and sundry” he added.
