The full contract signed between the former management of Bank of Ghana and Sibton Switch Systems on the Mobile Money Interoperability project has been sighted by Ultimatefmonline.com.
The former Second deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama called on Ghanaians to disregard the GH¢4.6 billion interoperability claim by the Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
His comment came in after Dr Bawumia said the the Bank of Ghana (BOG), under the NDC government was to commit an amount of GH¢4.6 billion of public funds into the proposed switch to interconnect mobile money transaction.
Dr. Bawumia added that the deal was executed for less than $4 million as against the NDC government’s GH¢4.6 billion.
But addressing Journalists on Monday, Dr Asiama said neither government nor BoG was going to pay the purported GH¢4.6 billion.
The system which was rolled out last week by Dr. Bawumia will enable customers to transfer money easily across various mobile networks. It will be managed by the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS).
