The Parent Teacher Association of the New Mission Academy located at Kwadaso in the Ashanti region, has successfully held its second fitness and health fest held to foster good teacher – parent relationship
The walk formed part of efforts at fostering a positive parent – teacher relationship towards the training of children at the New Mission Academy.
Parents and teachers alike took a long fitness walk through principal streets of the Kwadaso Municipality and crowned it with games, health screening and symposium on personal health and safety.
Head of the medical team from the King David Medical Centre DR Agyeman Duah advised that Ghanaians dispel the notion that medical checkups are expensive and not worth the cost.
He advocated for a culture of health investment among Ghanaians as studies show that expending a portion of incomes on personal health will save several Ghanaians huge sums spent in treating diseases.
“Just as we invest in our business and in our children’s education, so should we invest in our own health. Ghanaians have become health conscious but sometimes it is skewed and we need to take it to the next level,” he adviced.
Some of the parents who spoke to Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador were elated at the opportunity to know the teachers of their children for the first time on a rather personal level.
“Personally I think its been great having a good time with teachers, engaging in some good exercise and having some good food with them because my child is new here,” a mother Nana Adotei shared.
Some participating teachers underscored the need for parents and teachers to forge a united front in the education of their children and not leave the burden on educators alone.
The organiser and welfare chairman for the New Mission Academy Fredrick Ankrah was positive the parent teacher association has been energized to take on the new academic year with zeal.
