Togo legend Emmanuel Adebayor is predicting a difficult game for Ghana when they travel to Bouaké to face Côte d’Ivoire in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
The Black Stars have been hit by several withdrawals ahead of the game, with Mohammed Kudus and Antoine Semenyo among the notable players unavailable due to injury concerns.
Thomas Partey was also left out of Carlos Queiroz's squad, further reducing the experience available to the Ghana coach ahead of the difficult away fixture.
Adebayor believes Ghana could struggle against a strong Cote d’Ivoire side without some of their key experienced players.
“There is no game without an experienced player; it will be hard,” Adebayor told 3Sports.
“Kudus would have brought confidence into the team. But with [youngsters], trust me, it will be difficult.”
“Ivory Coast against Ghana, you need some players who can bring [cool heads],” he added.
Ghana will face Cote d’Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake on Thursday, September 24, in their opening Group C fixture.
The Black Stars will then return to Accra to host The Gambia on September 27 as they begin their campaign to qualify for the 2027 AFCON.
Ghana missed the previous edition of the tournament in Morocco and will be looking to make a strong start under Queiroz.
