Golf is a strategic channel to build relationships – MTN boss
Accra, Oct. 28, GNA - Michael Ikpoki, Chief Executive of MTN Ghana, has said his outfit has identified golf as a strategic channel to build stronger relationships with a section of their subscribers.
Speaking at the 4th MTN Invitational Golf Competition in Tarkoradi, Ikpoki, who is an ardent golfer, described the event as “a continuation of what his outfit is doing for the sport”.
He said the event is a special one considering the fact it offered the company the platform to bond with their business partners, friends and customers in a relaxed atmosphere.
According to the MTN CEO, his outfit decided to move the competition, which was part of the ‘Oil festival’ from Accra to the region, in a bid to offer their business customers outside the capital the opportunity to be part of the event.
“We have participated in a number of golf events over the past few years and these include the quarterly Spoons competition, MTN Ghana Open, MTN Classic, Asantehene Gold Cup and Accra Open and we intend to continue”. He added.
Edward Butt, captain of Takoradi Sports Club, commended MTN and Gold Fields for supporting the event and expressed the hope that the partnership between the two companies will take golf a step further.
