WAFA have been strong on home turf
West African Football Academy (WAFA) defeated Kumasi Asante Kotoko by 2-0 at the Sogakope Stadium on Wednesday.
The match was an outstanding Ghana Premier League game. It was put on hold due to Kotoko’s fatal accident some few weeks ago.
Kotoko had not lost since their return to the pitch but the Sogakope side ended that streak by the Porcupine Warriors.
Gideon Waja scored the opener in the second half after an intensive first half recorded no goal.
Daniel Lomotey also recorded a goal to give the home side a 2-0 lead.
The Porcupine Warriors had several opportunities to restore parity but the wood work denied them on many occasions.
WAFA have again climbed to the peak of the table with 46 points while Kotoko remain at the 4thposition on the log with 35 points, one point above Medeama.
Kotoko will hope to make amends when they meet Bolga All stars as the league resumes this weekend.
Below are the other fixtures for the weekend:
Ebusua Dwarfs vs Liberty Professionals
Asante Kotoko vs Bolga AllStars
Berekum Chelsea vs Elmina Sharks
Bechem United vs AshantiGold
Wa All Star vs Medeama
Aduana Stars vs Inter Allies
