The Tamale Municipal Chief Executive, Iddrisu Musah Superior, says measures will be put in place to deal with the criminals who attacked the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Monday.
“Measures are being put in place for the Ghana Police Service to investigate this matter.”
The Tamale mayor was speaking on 3FM on Sunrise on Tuesday.
He regretted the incident took place, claiming he didn’t know any of the boys that took part.
“I think it was rather unfortunate and condemnable, I don’t know those boys who did that. I had the information as about three o’clock.
“In fact, I was at a meeting at the Regional Coordinating Council when I got a call from a young man telling me what happened about 11 o’clock so quickly I informed the metropolitan police and we got our guys there. Then, I went there myself and the place was calm,” he narrated.
He said, however, that an eye witness told him everything that took place in the hospital.
“An eye witness said the guys came and went straight into the office of the Chief Executive and asked him to leave the hospital. The man obliged, took some files and left the hospital and then the guys went away.”
Videos of the incident immediately made rounds on social media.
“I have seen a particular video I don’t know if it is that video on WhatsApp platforms that this is what happened at the hospital.
“I have a particular video purporting to be the actions of the boys at the hospital.”
It is alleged that the boys identified in the video are Kandahar Boys affiliated to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but Iddrisu Musah says it is not so.
“No, that is absolutely false. In fact [on Tuesday, August 14], the Kandahar Boys will be making a press conference, indicating that they are not part of it. On Monday, they issued a very short statement on some social media platforms disassociating themselves from that.”
He said he has spoken to the leadership of Kandahar Boys and they have denied flatly that they had led it or they were part of it.
