The world football governing body, Fifa, has extended the ban it placed on the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi by 45 days.
Kwesi Nyantakyi was handed a 90-day ban from all football-related activities at both national and international level by Ethics Committee of Fifa.
His ban followed the release of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ #Number12 exposé in which Mr. Nyantakyi was captured in allegedly compromising positions.
The investigative documentary exposed deep-seated corruption among football officials, referees, administrators in the country and has triggered a process for the dissolution of the GFA, a process that was later stopped by Fifa.
A statement from Fifa Wednesday, September 5, stated the decision to extend the ban by 45 days was informed by “the request of the chairperson of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee carrying out the formal investigation proceedings into Mr. Nyantakyi..”
