As part of its 10th anniversary, Globe Productions is out again with yet another captivating play titled ‘Christmas in April’.
From 2009 till date, Globe Productions has been consistent with quality, hilarious and family-oriented stage plays in educating and entertaining its patrons.
Patronage has soared over the years. As of 2018, the production house’s audience base had increased to over 30,000 across five cities: Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Ho and Takoradi.
The growing interest of patrons and the positive impact of plays on the society have necessitated and motivated Globe Productions and its playwright, Latif Abubakar, to continue with the tri-annual performances and regional tours.
“We hope to impact and touch more lives in the years ahead with an improvement in the quality and hilarity of our plays,” Latif Abubakar noted.
Globe Productions has over the period produced and performed social-oriented plays that have contributed significantly towards the development of theatre arts in the country.
Some of the plays include ‘I Can’t Think Far’, which emphasized on peaceful election and nonviolence. ‘Saints and Sinners’ highlighted the menace of Galamsey, ‘Men Don Die’ focused on road safety, and ‘Judas and Delilah’ centred on health and first aid tips and many more.
In commemoration of Globe’s 10th year of production, Latif will stage another daring play dubbed ‘Christmas-In-April’.
It is the playwright’s 13th play and the first of the 10th-anniversary celebration events.
‘Christmas-In-April’ tells the story of four financially handicapped guys who were tricked into an unknown but a scandalous business with a high prospect of migrating to the United States of America.
As they soon realize they have been swindled, and that the USA travel promise was fake, their leader gets nabbed.
They escape, only to run into Father Christmas. Confused and shocked, they wonder if they have encountered a ghost, a CID officer or a true Santa.
