Acting General Manager of News at Media General Group Abraham Asare has proposed that Graphic Communications Group Limited and his outfit develop an exchange programme to share expertise in print and multimedia journalism for their respective staff.
He made the proposal on Friday, April 26 when some management members of Media General Group paid a courtesy call on the Managing Director of the Graphic Group, Ato Afful.
According to Mr. Asare, the exchange programme will help in building concrete standards to promote multimedia journalism.
“I would wish and pray that after today’s meeting we will be able to start talking about how the two newsrooms will be working together to better our industry and our work.”
Media General’s delegation was led by the Chief Operations Officer, Winfred Afful.
The visit, according to Mr. Afful, is to officially congratulate the new MD of Graphic Communications Group Limited on his appointment and foster the necessary and existing collaborations by the two media entities.
“We have been having some discussions with Franklin Sowah and George Danso on moving on with partnership between the two entities, because we know when two giants are doing well, the media fraternity in Ghana is going to do well. On behalf of my group CEO, we say congratulations,” Mr. Afful said.
Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited Ato Afful said the two media giants have collaborated severally in the past and there was the need to deepen the partnership.
“In February, the big event of the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge was hosted in the TV3 studios. I recall I went to the marketing floor and there was a marketing conversation and I said, why not go and speak to your Media General partners to produce that show and take it live.
“I ceded the idea because I understand what this partnership could bring and the value that relationship could have for all of us.
“We believe that with a partnership such as ours between Graphic Communications Group and Media General, we stand to do much better for ourselves and also for the wider industry that we represent,” Mr Afful said.
The Graphic Group MD is optimistic collaboration between the two could strengthen their presence within the industry.
“We are Ghanaians and most importantly we belong to this nation. Everything else that we do beyond making money for the brands that we represent should ultimately impact the developmental agenda of this nation.
“You never find creative people sitting on their own in isolated caves or tunnels and doing well. When we collaborate we do much better, when we share we excel and we will commit to this,” the Graphic MD explained.
The Graphic Communications Group Limited executives who received the Media General delegation included the Director of Marketing and Sales, Mavis Kitcher, Franklin Sowah, Manager Advert and Sales, George Danso and Head of Information Systems, Christabel Addo Mfuamfo.
