President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has gone into self-isolation on the advice of doctors.
The president went into isolation on Saturday, July 4 and he will be out for 14 days.
Throughout the period, he will be working from the Presidential Villa at the Jubilee House, a statement issued by the Minister of Information on Saturday said.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah’s statement adduced that President Akufo-Addo is going into self-isolation as a precautionary measure in compliance with Covid-19 protocols.
“The President has elected to do so after at least one person within his close circle tested positive for Covid-19 today.
“He has, as at today, tested negative, but has elected to take this measure out of the abundance of caution.”
Ghana first recorded the deadly disease on Thursday, March 12.
Since then, about 19,388 persons have been infected.
Among these are the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Minister of Education Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Minister of Regional Reorganisation and Development Daniel Botwe.
Some key public figures have also lost their lives due to the virus.
Among these is the Chief Executive of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Anthony KK Sam.
