The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has said there will be a meeting between the body and its Medical Committee and Competitions’ Department to determine the way forward for Premier League clubs before October 30.
This comes on the back of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s decision to lift the ban on all contact sports.
In an interview with 3sports, Henry Twum said it is essential for the meeting to take place because the players have not been active for a while, adding there will be mandatory mass testing to ensure their safety.
“We held a meeting with the Covid-19 team and the government is ready to assist and they have given us the assurance that they will make sure players and officials are tested. As a body, we will meet our medical committee led by Dr Adam Baba and our Competition Department led by Sena Akoto Ampaw to look at the modalities,” he told 3Sports.
He added: “Players have been home since March, is it possible to give them only four or five weeks to prepare for the League and same goes for clubs preparing for the intercontinental competition?
“There is a possibility that players and officials may test positive for the virus. We will have to meet to make a decision should that happen.”
Football is expected to resume on Friday, October 30.
However spectators are not supposed to be at training grounds while a maximum attendance capacity of 25 percent will be allowed at games.
