Former Ghana Premier League star Victorien Adebayor has completed a loan move to Legon Cities Football Club from Danish second-tier side Hoge KB.
The Nigerian attacker after a successful stint at Inter Allies during the 2019-2020 GPL season which was truncated joined Hoge KB in Denmark in 2020.
According to the director of HB Køge Per Rud, Adebayor has struggled to settle in Denmark due to personal reasons and coming back to Ghana is the right decision.
“In this way, we meet the wishes of Adebayor. For personal reasons, he has a strong need to be close to his family for the time to come. We have listened to that. We have come to the conclusion that if he does not thrive here because he does not have himself with, it is the right solution.
“Adebayor’s first time in Denmark has not been easy. There has been corona. The paperwork with visas and work permits has been a long time coming. We have not yet succeeded in bringing his girlfriend to Denmark. At the same time, he has been hit by injuries, which has meant that he has not been given the desired playing time. Now he gets a period in a club where he is safe. At the same time, he can get in shape and, in addition to football, focus on family life,” says HB Køge’s director Per Rud.
Legon Cities Football Club beat Hearts of Oak to the signature of the Nigerian International.
The 24-year old will team up with Hans Kwofie, Raphael Ocloo and Asamoah Gyan to strengthen the attacking department of the Royals.
Adebayor spent two seasons in the Ghana Premier League and scored 19 goals in 25 games for Inter Allies.
