Family of deceased social media activist Mohammed Iddrisu, popularly known as Macho Kaaka, have had their request to meet the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, accepted.
www.3news.com gathers that the Office of the National Chief Imam has agreed to a meeting with the family on Tuesday, August 24 at 10:00am.
The family of Macho Kaaka, whose death sparked deadly protests in Ejura on Tuesday, June 28, will raise concerns regarding the investigations into the murder of their son, husband, father and brother.
They are also expected to raise concerns regarding the “unjust” arrest and prosecution of the deceased’s brother, Iddi Mohammed, whom the police insist launched the attack leading the Macho Kaaka’s death on Monday, June 27.
The welfare of the widow, who has been left to mother the five children left behind by the deceased, will also be an issue to be discussed with the Chief Imam.
Aside Macho Kaaka’s widow, Sahada Hudu, his mother, Hajia Mariam Yakubu, sister Hajia Rahinatu Mohammed, uncle Alhaji Saeed Ahmed and his two daughters will join the delegation.
Family Spokesperson Nafiu Mohammed and Legal Advisor Oliver Barker-Vormawor will also be part of the delegation.
Macho Kaaka’s murder led to deadly protests in Ejura in the Ashanti Region as two persons lost their lives and four others sustained life-threatening injuries.
This led to the setting up of a three-member Ejura Committee led by Court of Appeal judge Justice George Kingsley Koomson.
The Committee has since presented its report to the Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery.
The Chief Imam was in Ejura, together with Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to commiserate with the family when the incident occurred a couple of months ago.
