An entirely new Black Stars team is being built hence a long term coach was needed to assemble the players and build their confidence, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed has said.
He said he was disappointed in the decision of Black Stars coach, Otto Addo to truncate the Black Stars job even before the 2022 world cup tournament started and accordingly resigned after the team exited.
For him, the new coach to be appointed should work with the already existing technical team members who are familiar with the payers and build them for future tournaments.
“I was against the intention of the coach who said he was going to step down after the world cup,” he said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday December 3.
Murtala Ibrahim further said he did not have so much confidence in the team going into the tournament.
Otto Addo resigned as Ghana coach following the Black Stars’ 2022 World Cup exit on Friday.
He will concentrate on his role as a trainer scout at German club Borussia Dortmund.
The former Ghana international had stated that he would leave after the World Cup, and he announced his departure after the Black Stars were defeated 2-0 by Uruguay to crash out of the Qatar tournament.
Otto Addo was named interim manager in March and was confirmed as substantive coach after leading the Black Stars to secure World Cup qualification at the expense of Nigeria.
