An aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Jomoro Constituency of the Western Region, Francis Kwaido Ackatia, says the entire inhabitants of Jomoro will not forgive the delegates should they fail to vote for him.
Mr. Ackatia said it is time for him to be given the chance to change the fortunes of Jomoro, hence his assertions that inhabitants will not forgive delegates who will be voting in the May 13 primaries should they reject him for the third time.
“Indeed, just like many party faithful, Kwaidoo believes that Hon Dorcas Affo-Toffey may have done her best and contributed her quota to the development forward march of Jomoro but the hard truth is that, her best is unfortunately not entirely to help the NDC break the four,” Mr. Ackatia said during his campaign to most of the communities.
His campaign has taken him to almost the entire Jomoro Constituency in towns such as Tikobo, Half Assini, Elubo, just to mention a few.
“The good people of Jomoro will never forgive us should we let them down at this critical and crucial moment by allowing the status quo to continue. That will be eternally unpardonable and unforgettable,” he said.
The aspirant said: “In order to avoid committing such unpardonable mistake, we as delegates must capitalize on the opportunity that May 13th offers us”.
“May 13th gives us the chance to put in motion our innate intentions and our unquenchable desires to have our party break the four. I mean to restore our party back to its glorious days when we won and ruled Jomoro with much more comfortable margins,” he added.
Mr. Ackatia reminded the NDC delegates not to forget the position of the NDC party in the current state.
“Let’s not forget the fact that, our party is indeed at the cross roads, poised to choose between true leadership that leads from behind and on the basis of reality and not fiction and superstition. A leader that is ready to work with everyone irrespective of the views they hold. A leader that will give inspiration to his people in order to unleash their creative potentials is what we talk about here.”
He added that “it is also an opportunity to solve all internal party problems and patch all cracks either real or perceived, artificial or natural, which have emerged in between the last elections and now”.
Commenting on some challenges facing Jomoro people, especially the youth, the aspirant said, “I mean our real, palpable and tangible problems of unemployment, hopelessness, hunger, just to mention but few”.
He explained that “the painful experiences of Hon Lee [Ocran] and Hon Samia must serve as a good hypothesis for us to dig deeper into the Jomoro parliamentary elections and its outcomes because in order to make proper scientific projections into the near future”.
“The facial expressions alone in the faces of these disappointed delegates, some of whom have remained delegates ever since they gained their political consciousness is enough for even the political neophyte to come to the conclusions, that things are really hard for the people”.
He said “the incessant complaints goes to confirm the decades-old problems of leadership disconnect from the grassroots”.
Highlights of my third coming
He was optimistic of his third attempt at the primaries.
“In this my third coming, I have come to empower the branches, branch reorganisation and restructuring. Resource them, build capacity at the branch level, which will impact the growth of the party. This is an NDC parry constitutional requirement, and I have come to do that, to solve the problem of the growing lack of interest in the party.
“These branch executives, who forms the delegates will be empowered to support themselves at the grassroots. I have come to introduce a novelty, which I believe when national adopt it will go a long way. An annual delegates conference for all branches. A time with MP Francus Ackatia Kwadoo”.
Mr. Ackatia said “a time to listen to concerns, A time to share opportunities and build consensus, a time to bring job and infinitives to the people”.
“A time to form committee made up of delegates and branch executives to run the affairs of the party at the constituency level. That is the reason why the people must vote for this positive, progressive change. It will be an error if they miss thus opportunity”.
