President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says no child in Ghana must be left behind as far as the fourth industrial revolution is concerned.
He said that his administration would do everything within its mandate to carry the country’s students along the path of smart education and digitalization.
Speaking at a ceremony to launch the Ghana Smart School Project (One Student, One Tablet in Accra, President Akufo-Addo said the government is building one hundred smart schools to boost the digitalization agenda in schools across the country.
Under the One Student, One Tablet initiative, some one million, four hundred thousand students at the senior high school level in secondary schools across the sixteen regions of the country will receive a SM1 10.1 inch tablet with is pre-installed with all the educational materials they require for their academic work from SSS 1 to 3.
The internet-ready tablets also come with a solar-powered Powerbank, a tablet case with a keyboard attached, as well as power cables for both the tablet and the Power bank.
The tablets will be distributed in three phases from March to September 2024. 450,000 tablets will be distributed during every phase of the distribution cycle.
