Trent Alexander-Arnold sets ambitious goal of winning Ballon d’Or

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has set his sights on winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or before he calls time on his career.

At 24 years old, Alexander-Arnold boasts a haul of trophies for his boyhood club Liverpool, with the last of them coming in the form of the 2023-24 Carabao Cup.

Arnold was also a member of the Liverpool team, which won the Champions League, FA Cup and their first Premier League trophy after three decades in 2020.

His excellent offensive contributions for the Reds have seen the full-back rack up impressive attacking numbers, including 15 Premier League goals and 59 assists in 234 games.

Pressed upon what his long-term objective is, Arnold said: I’d say win a Ballon d’Or because I believe I can. And, I want to be the first full-back to ever do it, he told Sky Sports.

Arnold, despite failing to find the back of the net in the ongoing season, has provided two assists across all competitions.

Despite his slow start offensively, Arnold has put together a sound all-round performance for Liverpool and new manager Arne Slot.

His performances over time at Liverpool have won the full-back huge admirers since bursting onto the scene in the 2016/17 season.

Still going strong at 24 and yet to hit his peak, Trent wants to be enlisted amongst the greatest full-backs when he calls time on his career.

“I mean a legend of football and someone who changed the game. That’s the main saying that I have is: don’t play the game, change the game. So, yeah, I just want that legacy of being probably the greatest right back to ever play football, if I’m honest.”

Liverpool travel to Arsenal for a crunch league tie on Sunday.
