2024 Elections: Effia constituents settle on Abdul Majeed Iddrisu Nasam Dokurigu

The Parliamentary candidate of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Effia Constituency in the Western Region, Abdul-Majeed Iddrisu Nassam Dokurigu, appears to be winning the hearts of the electorates in his Constituency.

This is because of huge crowds being pulled by the candidate.

“He continues to pull crowd in the Constituency despite facing a stiffer challenge from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) which is currently holding the seat” one of the constituents said.

Whilst the campaign launch of the NDC Parliamentary candidate was described as unprecedented two weeks ago, the latest to cement his authority as the favourite of the electorates of Effia in the December elections was the large crowd.

This was manifested at an organised keep fit event on Sunday 27th October 2024, and the constituents turned out in their numbers as usual and turned the area into NDC colours.

The turnout was described as an unpredictable mammoth crowd, purely showing up for the exercise and showing the candidate true love. The visible facts, and figures that sent the signal that the banker was on his way to parliament as the favourite of the Constituents.

It was the turnout of people he recorded against that of his opponent who also organised a similar exercise on the same day and time.

The love and care, open admiration, pure adoration and the unstoppable jubilation, displayed on Sunday morning by the Constituents, many concluded, was the testament that power had indeed changed hands in the Effia Constituency.

The humble, affable and loveable young politician had the blessings and support of former Minister of Information Totobi Quakye, who led the keep fit session through the principal streets of Effiakuma, Lagos Town, Tanokrom, Newsite and Effia.

Another significant sign of victory, some of the constituents observed was a minor downpour recorded during the exercise which was primarily a repeat of what transpired during the campaign launch last two weeks.

Following 3 hours of extensive walking and exercise, though interlaced with brass band music and dance, as well as spinners, the crowd retired at Effia where they were addressed by the candidate.

In his address, he pointed out three fundamental issues that would occupy his admiration as the next lawmaker of Effia.

These, he said would include job creation to actualize the 24 hour Economy of President John Dramani Mahama. In achieving this, he said through an apprenticeship programme to be introduced, many youth of Effia would secure jobs and secure their future under President John Dramani Mahama.

Aside that, he said his “BOSS” policy, which would target strategic areas of investment, would empower the youth of Effia Constituency as well as women groups.

Abdul Majeed Iddrisu Nasam Dokurigu, said the introduction of the Women Development Bank (WDB) by President John Dramani Mahama as part of his policy initiatives, would also assist him to establish a cooperative credit union to help vulnerable groups and women in the constituency.

The historic health walk was peaceful and incident free despite the huge number of electorates showing up and showing the parliamentary candidate true love and true care at the betterment of NDC and his chances of wrestling the seat for the NDC.

The Effia Constituency was carved out of Effia-Kwesimintsim Constituency. But, since the creation of the new constituency, the NDC has never won the seat. Unfortunately, on the part of the NPP, the candidate who has always won the seat, would not be contesting the elections because he was defeated at the parliamentary primaries.

The NDC candidate who was born and raised in Effia, unlike his opponent, has therefore decided to give the NPP a run for their money in the constituency.
