Paramount Chief of the Kpembe Traditional Area and President of the Kpembe Traditional Council, Kpembewura Banbagne Ndefoso IV has been unanimously elected and sworn in as the Vice President of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs.
His election took place at an extraordinary sitting of the House in Damongo, the Savannah regional capital.
The Kpembewura is touted as an exceptional leader with knowledge of affairs of chieftaincy.
The position of Vice President became vacant upon the expiry of the four-year tenure of office of Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, Paramount Chief of Buipe Traditional Area.
Having assumed this position, the Kpembewura will act as President and preside over meetings of the house and perform other functions in the absence of the President.
It is worthy of note that the position of President of the House is permanently occupied by the Yagbonwura, the King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom.
Brief History of Kpembewura Banbagne
Known in private life as Dari Bismark Haruna, he is the Paramount Chief of Kpembe Traditional Area (August 2016 to date) with the title Kpembewura Banbange Ndefoso IV.
Before becoming the Kpembewura, he held several chieftaincy titles such as Lambowura, Kakurinjiwura, Labawura, and Singbunwura before becoming enskinned as the Kpembewura of Kpembe Traditional Area.
He holds a B.Ed. Gonja from the University of Education Winneba and has a Teachers Certificate “A” (1998).
He was appointed as the District Chief Executive (DCE) of East Gonja by President John Agyekum Kufour from 2001 to 2005. Kpembewura Banbange Ndefoso IV is acknowledged to have a passion for the development of Gonjaland.
He has equally taken a keen interest in the activities of the Gonjaland Youth Association and community services because of his passion for youth and development.
He is the 1st Trustee for Abranyo Youth Association, Salaga and helped source funding to build a three-classroom block and a library to establish the “Timu 1 Girls Junior High School” in Salaga.
He is married with five (5) children.
