Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes Mohammed Kudus will learn and improve from his outburst of anger in the Premier League.
Mohammed Kudus found himself at the centre of controversy after receiving a red card during a heated encounter against Tottenham Hotspur just a few days after the international break.
The incident, which occurred on October 20, saw Kudus his hands in an altercation with Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr, leading to his dismissal in the 4-1 defeat for West Ham.
This incident has prompted a charge from the English Football Association (FA) for improper conduct, as both Kudus and the club face potential disciplinary actions following the on-pitch melee.
The FA’s charge against both Kudus and West Ham highlights the seriousness of the situation. As the governing body investigates, there are discussions about potential penalties that could significantly impact Kudus’ season.
However, Agyemang-Badu has jumped to the defence of the 23-year-old citing: “Mistakes are a natural part of football, and he just needs encouragement and support.”
“I truly believe he will become one of the greatest players to emerge from Africa,” he added in an interview with Flashscore.
Addressing Kudus’ recent performances, Agyemang-Badu noted that while this year started strong for the young midfielder, emotions ultimately led to his downfall.
“This year, he started off strong, but unfortunately, emotions got the better of him, resulting in a red card (against Tottenham).”
Looking ahead, the former Udinese midfielder expressed optimism about Kudus’ potential growth tipping him for greatness.
“Being young, he will learn from this experience and improve. Gradually, we will see him progress and potentially join some of the greatest clubs in the world.”
Kudus has already served one of his three-game ban as West Ham United ended a bad run of form defeating Manchester United on Sunday.
