Asante Kotoko received a surprise visit from former Ghana captain Abedi Pele on Tuesday, as the three-time African Footballer of the Year joined the team’s training session in Legon, Accra.
Kotoko, in the capital for their Ghana Premier League match against Legon Cities, welcomed the legendary player, who offered words of encouragement and extended his blessings to the Porcupine Warriors.
The club shared their appreciation for the visit on social media, posting, “African and World football legend, Abedi Ayew Pele, offered his support and blessings to the team during our last training session ahead of our game with Legon Cities. It was a pleasure, Icon.”

Kotoko have shown defensive strength this season but have struggled to finish in the final third, scoring only one goal in each of their seven games.
With a solid defence, they’ll aim to capitalise on Legon Cities’ recent struggles, hoping a win will bring them level with league leaders Bibiani GoldStars.
