The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has solidified its standing by winning five out of nine outstanding parliamentary seats in the 2024 general elections, following the Electoral Commission’s (EC) recollation of results.
The NPP secured victories in the following constituencies:
- Nsawam Adoagyiri: Frank Annoh-Dompreh reaffirmed as the winner after addressing irregularities flagged by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
- Obuasi East: Patrick Boakye Yiadom narrowly defeated the NDC’s Samuel Aboagye, winning by a margin of just nine votes.
- Tema Central: Charles Forson of the NPP emerged victorious, maintaining the party’s grip on the constituency.
- Ahafo Ano North: Eric Nana Agyemang was declared the winner, further boosting the party’s parliamentary tally.
- Okaikwei Central: Patrick Yaw Boamah reclaimed the seat for the NPP, overturning the earlier declaration in favour of the NDC’s Abdulai Baba Sadiq.
- Ahafo-Ano SouthWest:
These victories come after a directive from the High Court ordering a recount in constituencies with disputed results.
The EC’s recollation process has sparked political tension, with close monitoring from all parties involved.
