The Driver and Vehicle Licencing Authority, DVLA has scheduled Thursday January 2, 2025 for registration of vehicles with 2025 number plates.
A press statement issued by Management of authority on December 20 indicates that the vehicle registration will take place at all DVLA operational centers.
“Following the introduction of the online vehicle registration system, vehicle owners will be issued with a smart card and a certificate of title containing details of the vehicle,” the DVLA said.
As a result, -25 suffix number plate indicating the year of registration will be issued after the vehicle owner has successfully gone through all the required processes by the Road Traffic Regulation, 2012 (LI 2180).
Prospective vehicle registrants will go through two stages in order to have their vehicles registered.
“The first stage is when the particular vehicle to be registered is physically taken to an accredited testing center with its customs entry documents. The documents of the vehicle shall later be presented at a DVLA office for validation and clearance after which an invoice will be generated for the requested services,” the authority announced.
The processes involving phase one of the registration can be initiated now on January 2, 2025.
The second phase of the registration will create an avenue for the registrants to pay for the services by cash or electronically at your preferred registration center.
“The biometric details of the owner of the vehicle will be taken after which documents covering the vehicles including road worthy certificates, licensed plates and vehicle registration smart card will be issued to confirm successful completion of the registration process,” it concluded.
