The newly elected Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Lawyer Blay Nyameke Armah, has called on his constituents to set aside political differences and unite for the collective development of their community.
With the elections now behind them, Lawyer Blay urged the people of Sekondi to move beyond the bitter divisions often sparked by political campaigns and work together for the advancement of the constituency.
He made this passionate appeal during visits to local churches for the 31st Watch Night Service, where he took time to thank God and express gratitude to the people for the trust they placed in him as their representative in Parliament for the next four years.
The churches he visited included Christ Apostolic Church, Presbyterian Church, All Saint Andrews Anglican Church, and Wesley Methodist Church.
While acknowledging the typical divisions that follow elections, Lawyer Blay emphasized the need for unity moving forward. He stressed that Sekondi is a shared asset, and political differences should not hinder its progress.
“You have your constituency as your common asset, and you suffer the consequences if you remain divided and fail to develop it,” he stated.
Lawyer Blay Nyameke Armah secured a decisive victory in the last parliamentary election, garnering 14,588 votes to defeat the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister for Tourism, Lawyer Andrew Agyapa Mercer.
Armah, committed to transforming Sekondi, has already begun work on improving the city’s infrastructure, with the restoration of streetlights on major roads to address long-standing darkness in key areas.
He also expressed his dedication to building on the progress made by his predecessor, emphasizing that he would not abandon existing projects but instead continue and expand upon them with new initiatives aimed at driving further development in the region.
“We will work together to ensure Sekondi is well developed building upon the work that my predecessor has done so that he won’t regret has he leave office,” Mr Armah assured.
