Akufo-Addo’s Aide-de-Camp, Colonel Isaac Amponsah, is not dead.
The Aide-de-Camp to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is alive and in stable condition after collapsing during the President’s final State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025.
Col. Amponsah, who has been serving as the President’s security aide, received immediate medical attention after the incident.
He was subsequently transported to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, where doctors confirmed his condition was stable.
Reports from reliable sources within the Ghana Armed Forces indicate that Col. Amponsah has been discharged and is resting at home.
The incident, which briefly interrupted proceedings in Parliament, drew widespread concern. However, the confirmation of his recovery has brought relief to the public.
Col. Amponsah has been an integral part of President Akufo-Addo’s security team since 2021, following the promotion of his predecessor, Major General Bismark Onwona.
Before assuming his current role, Col. Amponsah served as an instructor at the Ghana Armed Forces Military Training Academy and worked with the Defence Intelligence Unit.
