Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Chairman of the newly established Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL), has disclosed that he faces daily threats due to his active role in fighting corruption.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on Monday, January 13, Mr. Ablakwa revealed, “Threats have become a daily part of my life, but I remain steadfast, trusting in God’s protection. Despite the fake news and smear campaigns aimed at me, we are resolute and focused on our mission.”
ORAL, an initiative of the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, is tasked with gathering information of alleged misappropriation by members of the previous Akufo-Addo administration and citizens in general.
The initiative is currently probing suspected cases involving stolen lands, vehicles, revenues, and questionable contracts. Findings from the committee will be handed over to the Attorney General for further legal action.
Mr. Ablakwa emphasized the committee’s dedication to tackling corruption and recovering assets for the benefit of Ghanaians. “We remain unwavering in our fight to ensure justice and accountability,” he stated.
However, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has challenged the legitimacy of ORAL, arguing that the initiative lacks a legal mandate to carry out its operations.
