Boycott any invitation by ORAL team – Minority MPs to Ghanaians

The Minority in Parliament has urged all individuals invited by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee to assist in investigation into corrupt activities to boycott the invitation.

According to the Minority, the Committee has no legal mandate to engage in investigations regarding corruption-related offences as there are legally mandated institutions to do so.

Speaking at a press briefing in Parliament on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the Member of Parliament for Suame, John Darko declared that the NPP MPs will not honour any invitation from the ORAL committee.

“Our advice to you from the Minority is to boycott any invitation from the ORAL team. We are not going to be part of it because we believe that there are constitutionally established bodies that investigates any so-called misdeeds for the government.

“What they (ORAL) are doing is to go about disturbing people, entering homes, seizing vehicles and more or less taking over lands from people who have genuinely purchased them,” he stated.

“What the former government officials have done is to acquire properties that legally, they will acquire. No illegality has taken place,” he added, accusing members of the current administration of equally obtaining properties that hitherto, belonged to the state.

John Darko further claimed that the ORAL team has merely been established to go after former government officials.

“In any case, the NDC, their members have also acquired lands in this country. The Executive, Okudzeto Ablakwa and co, they live in the Cantonments, they live in the Airports, they live in the Tse-Addos, lands which were government lands, which they bought many years ago. The people of Ghana should not tolerate this ORAL which is out there to only persecute the former government officials,” he alleged.
