Special aide to President John Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari has attributed Ghana’s economic struggles and persistent poverty to systemic corruption.
Speaking on The Keypoints program on TV3 on January 18, she criticized past and present administrations for failing to decisively tackle corruption, which she described as “the biggest barrier to development.”
She noted that corruption affects foreign direct investment, business climate, and public trust in institutions.
Mogtari called for stronger anti-corruption measures and urged Ghanaians to actively participate in exposing and reporting wrongdoing.
She praised ongoing efforts to protect whistleblowers but argued that these steps must be backed by transparency and swift action.
“Citizens are tired of lip service in the fight against corruption. They want pragmatic solutions,” she said.
