The Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Foyo Gbande, has assured Ghanaians of President Mahama’s commitment to investigating and prosecuting alleged corrupt officials of the erstwhile Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government.
According to him, some former ministers are now making friends with some NDC members.
“They are thinking they will be protected, but we will take them on.” Mustapha Gbande stated
Speaking in an interview on 3FM Sunrise with Johnnie Hughes on March 4, Mustapha Gbande said “one thing people should expect of President Mahama’s regime is to investigate, prosecute and jail guilty corrupt officials.”
In this regard, Mustapha Gbande urged the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, to crack the whip on any person found to have squandered public funds.
“The Special Prosecutor should speed up his game in prosecuting and jailing any culprit,” he said.
Corruption has been a major canker eating deep into the coffers of the country’s little resources. Ghana is believed to lose millions of cedi to this unending canker.
President Mahama in the State of the Nation Address promised to tackle the issue head on.
