Sir Samuel Jonah, the Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital, led Mobus Property Development to commission the newly constructed Col. Ababio Serebour Block for the Ghana Armed Forces Pay Regiment.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Friday, March 21, 2025, addressed the regiment’s urgent need for additional infrastructure, fulfilling a vision set in motion less than ten months ago.
Colonel Miki Adusei Nkrumah, Commanding Officer of the Pay Regiment, recounted the regiment’s infrastructure challenges and the call for corporate support to bridge the gap. He lauded Sir Samuel Jonah and Mobus Properties CEO, Mr. Kojo Ansah Mensah, for their generosity in funding the project.
“I want to acknowledge the benevolence of the Chairman of Jonah Capital, Sir Samuel Esson Jonah, and the Chief Executive Officer of Mobus Properties Ltd, Mr. Kojo Ansah, for sponsoring this project and bringing the vision of Command to fruition,” Col. Nkrumah stated.
The newly inaugurated Ababio Serebour Block is named in honor of Lt. Col. Ababio Serebour (Rtd.), a transformative leader in the Forces Pay Regiment. His pioneering initiatives in financial services integration within the Ghana Armed Forces led to the establishment of the Remittance Group in 2006, revolutionizing financial accessibility for military personnel.
Col. Nkrumah highlighted the honoree’s legacy, noting, “Lt. Col. Ababio Serebour was instrumental in reshaping the regiment’s financial operations. His vision and leadership extended beyond salary payments, enabling strategic partnerships with financial institutions and establishing the Remittance Group. Today, this unit serves as a vital financial hub for the Ghana Armed Forces and the corporate community. It is only fitting that we name this office block in his honor.”
Delivering a keynote address, Mr. Kojo Ansah Mensah, CEO of Mobus Properties, urged corporate Ghana to embrace social responsibility. Quoting former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, he emphasized the duty of businesses to contribute to national development.
“As a company rooted in Ghana and Nigeria, we believe our success is measured not only by the buildings we erect but by the lives we uplift and the communities we strengthen,” Mr. Ansah Mensah stated.
He further challenged corporate leaders to prioritize long-term impact. “As we hand over these keys, I challenge every corporate leader here: Look beyond the balance sheet. Invest in projects that outlive us all. To the Forces Pay Regiment—may this space fuel your mission. When you walk through these doors, remember a nation grateful for your sacrifice.”
Lt. Col. Ababio Serebour (Rtd.), visibly moved by the honor, expressed gratitude to Sir Samuel Jonah, Mobus Properties, and Col. Nkrumah for recognizing his contributions. He encouraged current and future leaders to prioritize service and inspire excellence.
Several dignitaries, including Brigadier General Salifu Osumanu, Controller of Defence Finance, members of the clergy, the Islamic fraternity, and military personnel, attended the vibrant commissioning ceremony.
The Ababio Serebour Block stands as a testament to visionary leadership, corporate social responsibility, and the unwavering commitment of the Ghana Armed Forces to infrastructure development.
