The Ghana Premier League’s Matchday 27 delivered thrilling encounters across various venues, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
Here’s a breakdown of each match:
Match day 27 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) kicked off on Friday at Tarkwa where Medeama SC produced a dominant display, ending Dreams FC’s eight-game unbeaten run with a comprehensive 4-0 win at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium. Kingsley Braye’s sensational hat-trick, including a penalty, handed Medeama a much-needed response after last week’s narrow defeat to Hearts of Oak.
On Saturday, Accra Lions came from a goal down to beat Basake Holy Stars 2-1, boosting their survival chances. Musa Hamzata and Lucky Nwafor’s second-half strikes cancelled Prince Tweneboah’s early goal.
On Sunday, Berekum Chelsea returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Heart of Lions at the Golden City Park. Zakaria Fuseini’s 17th-minute header gave Chelsea a crucial lead, lifting them to 10th on the league table with 34 points.
Legon Cities’ woes deepened with a 2-0 loss to visiting FC Samartex. The Timber Giants scored a goal in each half, making it two wins on the spin for the first time this season.
Karela United boosted their survival hopes with a spirited 2-0 victory over Aduana FC at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre. Alhassan Adamu’s brace sealed a vital three points for the home side.
Asante Kotoko dropped points at home, drawing 1-1 with Bechem United. This allowed Bibiani GoldStars to draw level with them at the summit of the Ghana Premier League table.
Vision FC and Hearts of Oak produced a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex. Hearts rued another away match without a win, despite sitting in second place as the best away team in the division.
Bibiani Gold Stars claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Young Apostles at Dun’s Park. Alex Aso’s goal at the death of the first half was the difference, extending the Miners’ unbeaten home run and sending them level on 47 points with Asante Kotoko.
