Antoine Semenyo levelled Michael Essien’s goal tally in the Premier League with his eight strike of the season in Bournemouth’s 1-0 win over Fulham on Monday night.
Semenyo broke his eight-game league goal drought with a well-taken finish inside 53 seconds to put Bournemouth ahead against Fulham.
The goal moved him to eight league goals for the season.
Semenyo’s low driven effort was his 17th overall Premier League strike since completing a €10.3m move from Bristol City to Bournemouth in 2023.
The goal moves him joint-fifth on the all-time highest Ghanaian Premier League scorers chart with Chelsea legend Michael Essien.
With six games to go and Bournemouth firmly in the mix to qualify for Europe, Semenyo could move further up the list before the end of the season.
The 25-year-old is now behind Andre Ayew (21 goals), Jeffery Schlupp (22 goals), Tony Yeboah (24 goals), and Jordan Ayew (41 goals) in the pecking order.
The goal also meant Semenyo equalled his best scoring season (8) in a Premier League campaign.
Bournemouth have moved into 8th following the win, and lie six points behind seventh placed Aston Villa.
“I love this boy. I like him. He is a top talent, Liverpool legend extoled Semenyo.
His performances this season have seen many elite clubs queuing up for his signature.
