Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has pushed back against public pressure to immediately disclose the budget for the Black Stars’ upcoming fixtures against Chad and Madagascar.
Amid growing demands for financial transparency in Ghana’s sports sector, Adams insists that now is not the right time to release budgetary details.
“You will know it when the time comes. I’m saying that I will make it public. Has the National Team ceased playing? We have the next assignment in September; we have matches that we’re going to play. And we will surely make it public,” Adams said in an interview on Channel One TV on Tuesday, April 15.
The Minister emphasized that the budget remains a working draft and cautioned against premature publication.
“It will be unfair to make a draft budget public, I’m not hiding it,” he emphasized.
Assuring Ghanaians of full transparency once national team activities conclude, Adams also reiterated his commitment to ensuring the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presents its budget for the upcoming September matches on time.
“There’s no way I’m going to allow the Ghana Football Association to delay in presentation of a budget for the September round of matches,” he affirmed.

On internal dynamics within Ghana’s sports administration, Adams warned against adversarial tactics aimed at the GFA, advocating instead for constructive dialogue and collaboration.
“There are a number of federations that, as a minister responsible for sports, you will work with and work through. Being an antagonist should be the last thing you must adopt as a leader,” he stated.
Acknowledging existing challenges, the Minister stressed a focus on solutions, not personal confrontations.
“I see problems, but I don’t see the human beings as the problems. The first thing I will do is to let us identify the problem. And to let you know that we must solve these problems,” he explained.
Still, he warned that individuals who obstruct progress may eventually be treated as part of the issue.
“But where you continue to become an obstacle to solving the problems, then it means now you are a problem, and in that case, we can deal with you as the problem,” he added.
