
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahanta West, Mavis Kuukua Bissue-Boateng has held discussions with the leadership of Linguistics Department at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on developing a comprehensive curriculum for teaching and learning of Ahanta language in schools.
The MP in a social media post on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 said the engagement forms part of a significant step to fulfill her campaign promise of introducing the teaching and learning of Ahanta language in schools.
A working committee has been formed and tasked with leading broad-based consultations and undertaking the work required to implement the initiative.
“In the coming weeks, we will host a historic durbar to officially launch this project. I call on all my Ahanta brothers and sisters both at home and abroad to support and join me on this ambitious and meaningful journey,” she wrote in her post.
Mavis Bissue-Boateng expressed gratitude to the Principal of the College of Languages Education at UEW, Prof. Rebecca Atchoi Akpanglo-Nartey for her commitment to ensuring that this is achieved.
